The mountainous relief of the Sierra de O Barbanza fades into the horizon, with an altitude of more than 600 metres above sea level at a short distance from the sea. This mountain range in the A Coruña Province separates the Ria de Muros and the Ria de Noia from the Ria de Arousa, and has outstanding viewpoints such as those on Monte A Curota or Iroite.

In fact, this area reaches the Atlantic Islands of Galicia National Park, with Sálvora (Ribeira) closing the Ria de Arousa, and Cortegada (Vilagarcía de Arousa) inside the bay.
