The Ons Archipelago is formed chiefly by two islands – the smaller one, Onza, and the one closer to the point we are now. Thanks to its location on the highest part of the island, the 128-metre-high Alto de Cucorno Lighthouse can be seen from all around.

These are the largest islands in the Atlantic Islands of Galicia National Park after the Cíes Islands and the only ones with an inhabited settlement: O Curro.

In the 19th century, fish-salting factories were installed there. They were the private property of the owner of Ons, who repopulated the island with fishing villages. In the mid-20th century, the number reached 500 residents, although the population has been dropping considerably ever since.
