Samil is the largest beach in Vigo. More than a kilometre long, it’s the most popular among beachgoers not only from the city, but also for many visitors from inland Galicia and northern Portugal. The city beach has numerous attractions that complement the beauty of the scenery.

The sandy area is located in a cove, at the mouth of the River Lagares, which stretches from Alcabre to Toralla Island, connecting with the peninsula via a bridge. Nearby, in O Vao Beach, a Roman villa with a thermal system and salt pans was discovered.
